19th Century Painted Wood and Wire Birdcage
Circa 19th century painted wood and wire birdcage painted in green with gold painted trim and two doors. The top of the birdcage is constructed with a broken scroll pediment detailed with a book and olive branch motif. The book is further painted with cross motifs and text that reads "Dieu,Patrie,Eglise,Rome,Marie,Joseph" which possibly translates to "God, Fatherland, Church,Rome,Mary,Joseph." The birdcage itself is further framed by carved floral trim. Please note of wear consistent with antique age including minor paint loss, surface cracks to the wood, and oxidation to the wire birdcage itself. Made in France.
